No technician required and we get four times the number of channels
Wow what a difference this made.
First off, you don’t have to be a technician to set this up. The manual provides step by step instructions that anyone can follow. You don’t require any tools. Because this antenna is intended for indoor use there are adhesive pads that are meant to hold the panel to an internal wall or window. Placement was easy and again requires no tools or technical knowledge.
Previously at our acreage we were only able to receive one on air channel but not continuously. Once we hooked up the antenna and did a little repositioning we can now receive 4 channels. The one channel that we used to get part time is now there solid.
Because the broadcasts are digital there is no snow or any other visual issues like there used to be with analogue broadcasts but when the signal is poor there is nothing to watch, it’s either there or it’s not. I’m very pleased that now all four on air channels that are available in this part of the province are definitely there continuously.
I like that this antenna can be located indoors and still provide such good reception. I know that part of this is due to using the included preamp but like all antennas, a preamp won’t make any difference if the antenna doesn’t provide enough of a signal for the preamp to amplify. The wide lines that are visible on one side of the panel are the elements that actually pick up the signals. What you’ll see is there are elements that’s run at angles not, just left to right but from the center to the four corners. This is because not all TV signals are on the same plane. This is why those old rabbit ear antennas from yesteryear worked if you moved them around, up and down, left and right.
So, the manufacturer has in a super slim panel provided elements that will pick up signals no matter what their orientation is.
Setup is easy. Connecting the entire kit only involves a couple of steps. Plug the included USB cable into the power port on the pre-amp and the other end into the USB port on the included AC adapter. The pre-amp has a short antenna cable that connects to the antenna port on your TV. The antenna panel has a nice long cable that connects to the antenna port located on the pre-amp. Plug the AC adapter into a wall socket and that’s it. There’s no tuning of equipment. It took us about 5 minutes of moving the panel around to find the best location for it where we were able to receive all four channels.
