Viva Naturals Sweet Almond Oil 16 fl oz
Beautiful clear, light, and non-scented oil with many uses
This reminds me of the fractionated coconut oil which has been showing up everywhere recently. First off, there is no scent which is welcome in this house. It’s very viscous and spreads around quickly when applied to the skin on its own and this allows it to soak in quickly. While it does leave an oily surface on the skin for about 15 minutes it does soak in completely for me within half an hour. After that the skin feels much softer.
I also suffer from very dry skin on my forehead, a few drops of the oil spread around keeps it from flaking for the day. I’ve also used it on my face after shaving to provide relief from razor burn.
I’ve had eczema on the back of my wrists since I was a child, it flairs up occasionally. I do have homemade salves that work great at calming the skin if applied on a regular basis. For a quick fix this oil works, because of how quickly and deeply it absorbs the itching diminishes in no time providing some very welcome relief.
I’ve used almond oil from different sources in the salves we make, it makes up a good percentage of the final product. I do this because of certain properties almond oil has that isn’t found in things like the fractionated coconut or grapeseed oil. Almond oil allows for the creation of a complete skin conditioning solution.
My wife has at times used almond oil as a deep hair conditioner with very good results.
For straight use the pop up cap that come on the bottle works well but the optional included pump is a nice addition. Personally, I prefer the pop up as it permits a more controlled amount to be dispensed.
