Sunbeam 2-Pound Bread Maker with Gluten-Free Setting, White
Excellent value and consistent loaves
This bread maker is used at least three times a week and after a few months is working exactly as expected. It’s no more or less noisy than any other similar bread maker we’ve used. The manual is well laid out although I would like to see a chart included that lists which number on the display is used for each type of bread this device will make. There is a sort of list on the top of the device itself wrapped around the bottom side of the top window but why not add this to the manual?
The included recipes are decent for starters. There are not that many but anyone who is serious about making their own bread will have already bought a book on Amazon with various recipes that go far beyond what I would expect a manufacturer to include, unless they raised the price to make up for adding this additional information.
The loaves we get are consistent if we use the same ingredients, if we swap out sugar for palm sugar or honey then there is a little experimenting that you will need to do as each has a different interaction with the yeast. We’ve tried all manner of different recipes from 300 Best Canadian Bread Machine Recipes and are enjoying ourselves working through the book. So far even when a loaf does not turn out 100% while experimenting they are still quite edible.
The mixer paddle works very well and is easy to extract it from the finished loaf. When you unpack the machine there is a small hard wire loop with an extension that has a hook on the other end. This is for pulling out the paddle. You also get a second paddle which is very nice, you never know when you may lose the thing or the non-stick surface on it becomes scratched.
The tub in this bread maker sits quite firm as the connection on the bottom of the tub has a wide rectangular cast metal socket that pushes onto the drive mechanism, there is no rocking or movement which tends to cause breakdowns
We like a lot of seeds in our bread. The machine has the standard BEEP when running through the cycle it’s time to add such items. We’re found that we actually get the seeds mixed in batter if we drop them in slowly about 10 minutes prior to the beep.
While baking the exterior gets very warm, you don’t want to touch it for long. Since the heating element is placed so close to the walls this is to be expected.
Over all we’re very happy with the brad maker and it’s another Oster product we’ve had extremely good luck with.
