Quick charging, simple to use, and doesn’t get in the way
I’ve had my S7 Edge for a while and knew it was capable of wireless charging but it wasn’t really on my radar till I noticed that the USB connector was starting to feel lose. I spend a lot of time on my phone browsing and talking, often at the same time and end up charging frequently throughout most days. Then because I end up moving around it means pulling the cable and again plugging it in after a couple of hours.
I looked at a few wireless chargers and some were less money but I’ve owned a few Anker products that always worked well so I went with theirs.
This thing is about the size of a drink coaster, its thicker but lying flat it looks like a coaster. It’s not some ugly thing either and because I have to lay the phone down when its charging it doesn’t take up any more space than charging the old way.
It’s heavier than I expected but that’s a good thing as it means that when the weight is combined with the rubber base ring it doesn’t move around easily. The top rubber surface also does a great job of holding the phone in place. I was also impressed with being able to simply push down on the pad to switch the device on and off. I’m not sure I like the breathing aspect to the blue LED lighting, this is where the ring on the bottom side slowly fades in and out, and it reminds me of some bad sci-fi flick where alien monsters pop out of gizmo.
Using it is about as easy as it could be. Once its plugged into a USB charging port all I need to do is place the phone face up on the charger. I found that centring it works best as it charges faster than if placed so that one end over hangs more than the other. It doesn’t matter how the phone is orientated on the charger either. I was also surprised at how fast it charges this way, I don’t know that it’s as fast as being plugged in but it’s faster than any of my old phones charged.
To power it you can use the included micro USB cable or anyone that you probably have laying around from some other device.
I’m happy with the device, it simple to use, saves on my power connection, and charges faster than expected.
